UMEA Conference Session Proposals for 2016

Higher Education has been allotted aproximately six session time slots. Higher Education proposals that are strictly performance oriented (ie. percussion clinic, flute clinic, tuba clinic, etc.) should be re-directed to the vice presidents in charge of each of these respective areas. For example, a higher education session for percussion performance should be directed towards the UMEA Vice President for Band and/or orchestra). Session proposals that are performance-oriented will be considered, if the topic is one which would be applicable to all music education students.

Proposals that have an emphasis on Music Education will be considered based upon date of submission, quality of the proposal, relevance or redundancy to other scheduled sessions and relevance to conference needs and goals. We invite and encourage our colleagues to submit proposals for the 2016 UMEA conference. Please send session proposals to the vice president of Higher Education. (Currently Cherilyn Worthen at cherilynw@gmail.com)

Due to the interest shown last year at the CNAfME luncheon, we would like to focus one or more of our sessions on best practices for the Student Teaching Experience, which is normally the capstone course for all music education majors.

Deadline submissions for 2016 Higher Education Sessions will be August 15,2015

Please submit the following information to: cherilynw@gmail.com:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Phone
  • Title of Session and 1-3 paragraph description
  • Target audience
  • List of AV needs (date projector, piano, sound system, microphone, etc)
